New Current Event

In 2013, Vivian Ndungati opened up a an Early Childhood Development center. She opened this because once she gave birth to her first child, she realized how important was to have education for her child. Vivian quotes, "The response from the country was amazing , this was the first time for an ECD center to be set up in the village and the parents were supportive." That amazes me. I wonder why the parents do not support most ECD centers. Maybe because of the cost? Well, this center Vivian set up only costs a monthly fee of N$20 which is $1.54 in the US. Vivian also said the program has been very successful. With about 89 kids in 2013. I figure the population of the school has gone up because of the low monthly fee and support from the parents.
I feel this is a great thing to add to my project because one of the rights is the right to an education, no matter where you are in the world. This school is placed in the north-east Namibia Zambezi in a Masida village. This school has also been successful for 3 years.

Children's Rights Organizations

The first organization that has been very helpful with one branch of children's rights, which is physical protection, is Prevent Child Abuse America®. Their mission is to prevent abuse and neglect of children. Children deserve the right of protection, and this organization believes in protection for kids through out the U.S. This organization saves about 100,00 families a year. Their Healthy Families America program has 92 off the 100 cents in a dollar to help programs that help families. According to, the United States has one of the worlds worst records of child abuse. The Prevent Child Abuse America® organization is trying their best to lower this. Also, according to the same site, a report of child abuse is reported every ten seconds.
Another organization that helps children and their daily life is UNICEF. This organization helps children worldwide. The organization believes every child has the right to an education, protection, survival, and have food. These people also fight for equality within boys or girls. I feel this is an amazing organization that does its absolute best to help as many kids as they can. In addition to fighting for rights, this organization also helps kids find their families after they have been abandoned or parents have been killed due to violence within the area. On their page, they share some great stories on how they help kids from a newborn to teenagers. While they track down their parents or whatever closest family member is alive, they provide a home for the kids. They also provide a school for the children staying there.

Social Issue ~ Children's Rights

Though I have not experienced many things like abuse, lack of food, and others, I feel it is important to know why kids have to have these rights.  As an older kid, I now realize how much I have and others don't. Some kids don't have a loving family or a safe home like I do. I want to see the world from someones point of view that doesn't have the easiest life. I want to be able to see what they go through and what happens to them daily. Doing this social issue, I will be able to see this happen. Not actually see, but get a closer look, because I don't know what it is like to not be loved or not have as many rights as some kids.
I still don't know much about children's rights, I gave my reasons before why I feel it is important to learn about this topic earlier. Most people in the world, including me, don't know what it is like to be in foster care or have no food. But those people that have or are being out through these things need help from the ones who have life easy compared to them. I haven't got the chance to really work with this issue, but I hope sometime in the future I will have this opportunity to work with these kids.

Loyalty #7

I have always been a person that can trust people easily. Though I've always knew that you can't trust everyone. This situation where somebody comes across that you trusted betrayed my trust has never really happened to me. Until just a little while ago, some people that I could trust with my life just kind of, left. Haven't we all had someone who left? I thought they would stick around for a long time. No, didn't happen. I know I was dreaming in a dreamland. Loyalty is something that is hard to receive, but even harder to keep. Always carry that with you. Don't be someone who isn't loyal, nobody likes those kinds of people.

Loyalty #6

Many movies have life lessons. One specific movie that pops into my mind is The Fox and the Hound. I'm assuming most of you know that movie. If you haven't seen this classic, I highly recommend it. I love this movie. It has great life lessons that tie with being loyal to your friends. This amazing movie is about two best friends, Copper and Tod. Copper is a bloodhound and Tod is a fox. They do everything together. Unfortunately, Coppers owner is a hunter looking for Tod. Copper stays loyal to Tod through all of this. Coppers owner obviously doesn't know about Copper and Tod being friends, but eventually, well, I'll let you find out for when you watch it.

Loyalty #5

When some people think of the word loyalty, they think of animals. I specifically think of dogs, but all animals I believe are pretty loyal if you treat them right. My question is, why are dogs so loyal to humans? I found an article that said since dogs are used to being around with a pack, they tend to bond with other things easily. I didn't know that dogs could tell the difference between a selfish and a generous human. This article does surprise me with some of its statements.
